Climate Commoms are sites and organizations that share a common focus regarding research, public awareness, and scientific data as the Institute of Climate Studies, USA.

1. www.powershift09.org Founded in 2004 by youths and students for a clean and just energy movement in North America.

2. www.e360.yale.edu A publication by the Yale School of Forestry and Environmental Health with latest news and issues on Climate Change.

3. www.climateprogress.org Looks at the complex issues that society faces in the area of Climate Change [can subscribe to an email newsletter also].

4. www.extremeicesurvey.org The Extreme Ice Survey is the most wide-ranging glacier study ever conducted using ground-based, real-time photography. EIS uses time-lapse photography, conventional photography, and video to document the rapid changes now occuring on the Earth's glacial ice. The EIS team has installed 27 time-lapse cameras at 15 sites in Greenland, Iceland, Alaska, and the Rocky Mountains. EIS supplements this ongoing record with annual repeat photography in Iceland, the Alps, and Bolivia.

5. climatehotmap.org  The World Resources Institute oversaw the production of the printed version of the map and undertook the design and construction of this web site. In January 2003, the Union of Concerned Scientists updated the website to reflect the new map points.  Support for this project has been generously provided by the John D. and Catherine T. MacArthur Foundation.  The printed version of the map and the graphic images used on this web site were designed by Cutting Edge Graphics, and modified by Kamenko Pajic at UCS.

6. eere.energy.gov  Here you'll find information about the U.S. Department of Energy's Office of Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy (EERE), which manages the ten EERE programs.
   

7. americanprogress.org  The Center for American Progress is a think tank dedicated to improving the lives of Americans through ideas and action. We combine bold policy ideas with a modern communications platform to help shape the national debate, expose the hollowness of conservative governing philosophy, and challenge the media to cover the issues that truly matter.

8. www.meted.ucar.edu  These modules should interest anyone who wants to learn more about how weather, climate and the environment can affect them – and what they should do about it if they find themselves in harm’s way.
   

9. www.arcus.org/synthesis2k/  This project is a coordinated response to the pressing need for new high-quality proxy-climate records from high latitudes. It contributes to the long-term perspective on natural climate variability that is needed to understand historically unprecedented changes now occurring in the Arctic.

10. http://ipccinfo.com Resource Media is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. Our Climate Science Program is dedicated to connecting scientists directly with journalists. This project is supported by The William and Flora Hewlett Foundation, The Rockefeller Brothers Fund, and The Energy Foundation.

11. Geophysical Research Letters  GRL is a Letters journal; limiting manuscript size expedites the review and publication process. GRL also publishes a limited number of frontier articles, by invitation from Editors. GRL's mission is to disseminate concisely-written, high-impact research reports on major scientific advances in AGU disciplines [PDF].

12. American Meteorological Society The American Meteorological Society promotes the development and dissemination of information and education on the atmospheric and related oceanic and hydrologic sciences and the advancement of their professional applications. Founded in 1919, AMS has a membership of more than 14,000 professionals, professors, students, and weather enthusiasts. AMS publishes nine atmospheric and related oceanic and hydrologic journals — in print and online — sponsors more than 12 conferences annually, and offers numerous programs and services.

13. Earth System Research Lab (NOAA)  ESRL was formed to pursue a broad and comprehensive understanding of the Earth system. This system comprises many physical, chemical and biological processes that need to be dynamically integrated to better predict their behavior over scales from local to global and periods of minutes to millennia.

Climate 1-Stop - The Climate 1-Stop provides a single location to share and access climate change tools, resources and information, with a primary focus on adaptation in developing countries.The Climate 1-Stop is a partnership of southern and northern organizations working at all levels, from grass roots to global. 16. Real Climate - RealClimate is a commentary site on climate science by working climate scientists for the interested public and journalists. We aim to provide a quick response to developing stories and provide the context sometimes missing in mainstream commentary. The discussion here is restricted to scientific topics and will not get involved in any political or economic implications of the science.

18. United States Partnership for Education for Sustainable Development The U.S. Partnership consists of individuals, organizations and institutions in the United States dedicated to education for sustainable development (ESD). It acts as a convener, catalyst, and communicator working across all sectors of American society.

19. Tiempocyberclimate.org Portal - The Tiempo Climate Portal is a listing of selected websites covering climate and development and related issues.  Tiempo Climate Newswatch is a weekly on-line magazine with news, features and comment on global warming, climate change, sea-level rise and development issues. The news stories carried by Newswatch are updated weekly. Comment, features, interviews and other sections of the magazine are updated on a weekly to monthly basis.

20. Climate Research Unit - The Climatic Research Unit is widely recognised as one of the world's leading institutions concerned with the study of natural and anthropogenic climate change.  Consisting of a staff of around thirty research scientists and students, the Unit has developed a number of the data sets widely used in climate research, including the global temperature record used to monitor the state of the climate system, as well as statistical software packages and climate models. The aim of the Climatic Research Unit is to improve scientific understanding in three areas: past climate history and its impact on humanity; the course and causes of climate change during the present century; prospects for the future

22. Alliance to Save Energy e-FFICIENCY - Alliance Associates were among the clean energy advocates at the Clean Energy Ministerial Stakeholder Meeting on July 19, 2010. Hosted by the Alliance, the American Council on Renewable Energy and the U.S. Green Building Council, this meeting was designed to inform the energy ministers attending the two-day Clean Energy Ministerial government meeting hosted by the U.S. Department of Energy.

23. NCDC State of the Climate 2009 - This 20th annual State of the Climate report highlights the climate conditions that characterized 2009, including notable extreme events. In total, 37 Essential Climate Variables are reported to more completely characterize the State of the Climate in 2009.
